Students Come Up With “Anti-rape” Underwear That Gives An Electric Shock To Attackers And Alerts Cops!

 

After the fatal gang rape of a 23-year-old student on a New Delhi bus last December, 3 Indian engineering students may have found the solution to protecting one's self from rapists.

The students designed this camisole – dubbed Society Harnessing Equipment or SHE – which has pressure sensors sewn in around the bust area to detect groping hands and send out shock which can be up to 82 electric shocks.

Explaining their design, co-inventor Manisha Mohan said: “A person trying to molest a girl will get the shock of his life the moment pressure sensors get activated.”


She explained that she and colleagues Niladri Basu and Rimpi Tripathy decided to put the wiring into the clothing after a survey showed most women were first groped on their breasts. The women are protected from the current by polymer insulation in the bra.

The makers are currently fine-tuning the design - hoping the garment will be on sale by the end of this month.

Mum buys toddler $6.5m apartment in New York

 

MOST toddlers are given soft toys or parties to celebrate their milestones. Others get multi-million-dollar apartments in Manhattan. A woman in China has done just that, buying a $6.5 million apartment at the Uber-luxury building One57 in Manhattan for her daughter, the International Business Times reports.
The woman’s daughter will be in wealthy company as the building, which will be finished next year, will also be the future home to several international billionaires.

According to the New York Times, the billionaire buyers include at least two others from China, a Canadian, a Nigerian and a Briton, as well as several wealthy Americans.
The building’s developers said that a handful of buyers were "significant Forbes billionaires".
Kevin Brown, senior vice president for Sotheby's International Realty, told China's state-run news channel CCTV News this week that he was touring Manhattan with the mother when he asked her why she wanted to buy.

"She said that it had to do with her daughter, who was either going to go to Columbia or NYU, maybe Harvard, and so she needed to be in the centre of the city, and that was the reason why she was picking this one particular apartment," he said.
"I said, 'How old is your daughter?' And she said, 'Well, she's two.' And I was just shocked."

The building previously made headlines in New York during Superstorm Sandy when a crane dangled from the roof due to strong winds.
Formerly known as Carnegie 57, One57 is a 90-storey skyscraper at 157 West 57th Street.

A FRISKY woman was mauled to death by a lion as she had sex with her boyfriend in the African bush.
Sharai Mawera was enjoying a passionate moment with her lover when the Big Cat struck.
Sharai’s partner, who has not been identified, ran off naked in a bid to raise the alarm.
But local reports say tragic market worker Sharai was killed at the scene in Kariba, northern Zimbabwe.
A friend told My Zimbabwe: “Unfortunately the woman was mauled to death by the lion, but her boyfriend managed to escape naked.”

The pal said Sharai and her fisherman boyfriend would meet at their favourite beauty spot in the wild.
He said: “The two were romping when the incident occurred. The lion came from behind and roared.
“The guy managed to escape before stopping at a distance where he witnessed his companion being attacked.
Police officers and armed rangers rushed to the scene where they discovered Sharai’s mauled remains.

The source said: “Cops and officers attended the scene and fired a single shot before getting to the spot.
“The woman had already been killed. She had bloody bruises all over her body. Her neck and tummy had been mauled.”
Rangers launched a hunt for the lion following the tragedy, amid concern the same animal may have killed a local man who disappeared at the weekend.

The remains of the victim were found on the outskirts of the town, which lies near the Zambezi river.
Police believe the man, who has not been named, was eaten by a lion as he walked home from a nightclub.
Experts believe the fact Sharai was mauled rather than eaten suggests the same beast was responsible for both attacks – but was not overly hungry.

Jealous man stabs younger brother to death while he was sleeping

Policemen attached to Ilemba Hausa division have arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his brother, a Merchant Navy to death while he was asleep.

The incident, occurred at the early hours of Wednesday morning February 21 at Oritse Street in Imude community, under Oto-Awori local development council area of Lagos.

After allegedly committing the devilish deed, the suspect, Allen Biodun, 30 (pictured right), reportedly dragged the remains of his brother, Allen Olawale Ayetimi, 24 (pictured left), to an uncompleted building behind their compound and dumped it inside the foundation of the building, covered it with leaves.

Thereafter he quietly went to his room and took his late brother’s ATM card, his Merchant navy uniform and phone.

Murder suspect, Oscar Pistorius, granted bail

The blade runner was granted bail by a South African court this afternoon after a judge ruled he was not a flight risk. He will be free to go home until the start of his trial for shooting dead girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Thursday February 14th.

His bail was set at one million rand, with one hundred thousand rand paid immediately. He's also not allowed to drink alcohol or return to the home were he killed Reeva. Bail conditions include a ban on leaving Pretoria.


The next hearing in the case has been set for 4 June.

Uncompleted 3-storey building collapses in Owerri, worker trapped inside.

Sources said the
building collapsed around 11 pm yesterday night
during a heavy downpour.
It was also disclosed that a 28 year old man
identified as Joseph Ekanem a carpenter who
happens to be one of the workers inside the
building have been trapped inside, even though
they cannot ascertain if there are more workers
trapped inside and they cannot ascertain as there
are 6 workers working in the building on daily
basis.

Sources also disclosed that the owner of the
building who lodged in a hotel close to the building
came to the scene of the incidence but quickly
locked up the building and ran away, when
Channels Television contacted him on the phone,
he denied ownership of the building.
At the time of filing this report, State emergency
management agency (SEMA), Imo rescue team,
Road Safety and combined security operatives in
the state forcefully broke into the premises in order
to rescue the trapped man.
However, some of the people living in the
neighbourhood attributed the collapse to quack
and shabby job by the contractor as the foundation
is not strong enough to carry a 3-storey building

Noah's Ark Remnants Found On Mount Arafat In Turkey -

some are nearly certain is the remains of Noah's

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical
explorers say wooden remains they have
discovered on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey are
the remains of Noah's Ark.
The group claims that carbon dating proves the
relics are 4,800 years old, meaning they date to
around the same time the ark was said to be
afloat. Mt. Ararat has long been suspected as the
final resting place of the craft by evangelicals and
literalists hoping to validate biblical stories.
Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark
Ministries International research team that
made the discovery, said: "It's not 100 percent
that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9
percent that this is it."
There have been several reported discoveries of
the remains of Noah's Ark over the years, most
notably a find by archaeologist Ron Wyatt in
1987. At the time, the Turkish government
officially declared a national park around his find,
a boat-shaped object stretched across the
mountains of Ararat.
Nevertheless, the evangelical ministry remains
convinced that the current find is in fact more
likely to be the actual artifact, calling upon Dutch
Ark researcher Gerrit Aalten to verify its
legitimacy.
"The significance of this find is that for the first
time in history the discovery of Noah's Ark is well
documented and revealed to the worldwide
community," Aalten said at a press conference
announcing the find. Citing the many details that
match historical accounts of the Ark, he believes it
to be a legitimate archaeological discovery.
"There's a tremendous amount of solid evidence
that the structure found on Mount Ararat in
Eastern Turkey is the legendary Ark of Noah," said
Aalten.
Representatives of Noah's Ark Ministries said the
structure contained several compartments, some
with wooden beams, that they believe were used
to house animals.The group of evangelical
archaeologists ruled out an established human
settlement on the grounds none have ever been
found above 11,000 feet in the vicinity, Yeung
said.
During the press conference, team member Panda
Lee described visiting the site. "In October 2008, I
climbed the mountain with the Turkish team. At
an elevation of more than 4,000 meters, I saw a
structure built with plank-like timber. Each plank
was about 8 inches wide. I could see tenons, proof
of ancient construction predating the use of metal
nails."
We walked about 100 meters to another site. I
could see broken wood fragments embedded in a
glacier, and some 20 meters long. I surveyed the
landscape and found that the wooden structure
was permanently covered by ice and volcanic
rocks."
Local Turkish officials will ask the central
government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World
Heritage status so the site can be protected while
a major archaeological dig is conducted.
The biblical story says that God decided to flood
the Earth after seeing how corrupt it was. He then
told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of
every animal species.
After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the
ark came to rest on a mountain. Many believe that
Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is
where the ark and her inhabitants ran aground.

Veteran actor Pete Eneh dies weeks after leg amputation

Veteran actor Pete Eneh has passed on. He died
around 4 this evening at Parklane Hospital, Enugu
where he had been receiving treatment for over
four months for a leg infection. The actor had one
of his legs amputated on the 24th of October at the
hospital due to serious infection he got after
sustaining an injury that refused to heal because of
his diabetic condition. May his
soul rest in peace, amen!

Kenyan Mother Names Her New Born Twins After Obama And Romney

A Kenyan woman who recently put to bed on the day Obama was re-elected, decided to name her new-born twins after the US President and his Republican rival, Mitt Romney.

According to Kenya’s Standard newspaper, the woman delivered the twins at a hospital, just a stone throw away from Obama’s ancestral home village of Kogelo where wild jubilations greeted the democratic candidate’s victory.

Four Nigerian teenage girls develop a urine-powered generator

 

Four Nigerian teenage girls - Duro-Aina Adebola (14), Akindele Abiola (14), Faleke Oluwatoyin (14) and Bello Eniola (15) have created something truly incredible, even if it's a little dangerous..:-).

The girls invented a urine powered generator which was showcased at this year's Maker Faire Africa held in Lagos a few days back. Continue to see how it works....

 

 

According to Maker Faire Africa, an annual event which showcases inventions, the system works like this:

 

Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which separates out the hydrogen.

• The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder.
• The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas.
• This purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator.
•  1 Liter of urine gives you 6 hours of electricity.

 Why is it a little dangerous? Maker Faire Africa ended their report by saying - Along the whole way there are one-way valves for security, but let’s be honest that this is something of an explosive device…

UNILAG student hospitalised after outing with Facebook friend

student has been
hospitalised, after
she was allegedly
pushed down from
the third floor of a
building in Lagos,
following a
disagreement with a
man she met on the
social network, Facebook.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Akabugu
Nkiruka sustained multiple injuries, including a
pelvis fracture, and was undergoing surgery at the
General Hospital, Marina, Lagos, on Tuesday.

Nkiruka, a Linguistics student of the University of
Lagos, told NAN on her hospital bed that she met the
young man through the social media, barely a week
before the November 1 incident.
She told NAN that the 26-year-old man (name
withheld) last Wednesday invited her to a night club
in Apapa from where they ended up in his family
home at 1004 Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.

She noted that the young man had earlier talked
about sex on the phone prior to the outing but she
told him she was menstruating.
Nkiruka said on getting to the house, the man tore
her dress and tried to rape her.

According to Nkiruka, the man thereafter pushed her
down from the third floor of the building because she
refused to have sex with him.
When contacted, the man's mother, who was at
home on the night of the incident, however, told NAN
that she was not aware of what happened.
She said she slept around 10pm, while the
disagreement between the couple started much
later.

The mother, who pleaded anonymity, said she paid
part of the hospital bill immediately after Nkiruka

was admitted, and even tried to transfer her to a
private hospital.
"I took her as our own daughter and so, I can do
anything that will make her recover quickly,'' she
added.
She insisted that her preliminary inquiry indicated

that Nkiruka was not pushed by her son as alleged,
but that she jumped on her own in the ensuing
scuffle.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of Bar
Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, Mr. Fayoade Adegoke,
told NAN that Nkiruka wrote in her statement that
she jumped on her own, in order to escape being
raped.

Adegoke said he ordered his men to convey the
victim to the hospital immediately after he was
informed of the incident by security guards in the
area.

The DPO said the suspect was released on bail,
pending further investigation into the matter.

NAN recalls that seven young men, including two
who met a 24-year-old post-graduate student,

Cynthia Osokogu, on facebook, are currently facing
trial for allegedly raping and killing her in Lagos
earlier this year.

70 year Old Man Beheaded In Akwa Ibom State

The headless body of a 70 year old man identified as Udo Jimmy (AKA Ete-Isang) has been discovered in a small village called Ikot Odion in Eket Local Government area of Akwa Akwa Ibom State.
Ete-Isang, as he was fondly called left his house in the evening of Monday to scout for straws to feed his goat, but did not return back even after night-fall. Worried by this strange development,his children quickly reported the matter to the newly elected Village Head who immediately summoned an emergency town hall meeting of all the villagers to discuss the matter.

A search party was immediately dispatched to comb the bushes in the direction where he was said to have been seen earlier in the day. His lifeless body was found just less than half a mile from his backyard along the road leading to a nearby stream called Odu Iyak.
The Divisional Police office of Eket, Mr Idowu Owohunwa was intimated and immediately visited the scene alongside some of his men for proper investigation. No arrest was, however, made as no strong suspect was identified by the villagers during the course of police preliminary investigation.

But a young lady in her early thirties simply known as Edikan later came forward and said she saw a strange young man along the road of the bush stream while going to fetch water to cook food for her children.
She said she  met a young man who easily got angry with her and questioned why she was staring at him so intently, further threatening to beat her if she continued staring at him. She finished by indicating that she did not know him but could recognize him if she saw him again.

A community leader, Mr Akpe Isang, while reacting to the incident said he believed that it was the hash way which poverty has significantly ravaged the state that has  compelled young men to resort to ritual killings by beheading people to make quick money.

But in contrast to this, a second school of thought blamed the killing of this septuagenarian on witchcraft. One of the community spokespersons who spoke on account of anonymity said Mr Jimmy returned from Calabar three years ago after the death of his eldest son and settled at home. Witchcraft was widely believed to be the cause of his son’s death.

Killings like this has been going on for some time now in different parts of Akwa Ibom State which may not have any connection  with politics as they mostly involved people from the local community.
In Oron area, for instance, about seven people were beheaded just last month alone in different villages. However, what may be the cause of this very death, still remains a mystery.

But it will be recalled that in 2001, more than eleven people including children believed to be witches and wizards were tortured and killed in this village alone and buried in an unknown mass grave.
